AP Creator of the Month : Visser
Welcome to AP Spotlight. Every month, we’ll pick an AP Creator of the Month and interview them, and they send us a little video intro with some quick tips for other AP Creators.
For September, our AP Creator of the Month is Visser Let’s meet them…
How’d you get started making adult content?
I was in quite a bit of debt, and due to various issues, needed a job that I could do from home, with a flexible schedule. A friend of mine who frequented online cam-rooms told me he thought I’d make a good cam boy….
How long have you been making content?
I’ve been making it for about seven years now.
What inspires your content?
I enjoy trying to actualize people’s fantasies and seeing where collaboration takes us. I’ve made a lot of custom content where I may not have ever done the raw concept before, but I try my best. And most of the time, end up finding a new thing I am into.
What’s your favorite content you’ve ever made?
Ooof, that’s hard to say; I’ve made so much content I’ve really enjoyed over the years. Some outstanding faves though have been a four hour masturbation challenge (jerking off for four hours nonstop was a challenge, but so was filming and uploading a four hour clip) and a more recent was a fanfic porn custom request based on one of my favorite books of all time, ‘Wreaththu’ (about androgynous male beings who are able to both impregnate and to carry their young.)
How do you promote your brand, and what’s the most successful method(s) for you?
Camming in tandem with my clip site has been a successful way to cross-promote (I have a twitter for networking and to keep up with fans/friends, but I don’t find twitter superrrr helpful regarding sales.) When I cam though, I will often have viewers move over to my store after or during a show to pick up a couple of clips, or get custom clips or private shows. Some of my cam viewers have become long-term repeat customers on my clip site. I know cam is not for everyone, but for me personally, it’s been a great place to make some lasting connections and direct traffic to my store.
What’s your trick to balancing your daily life?
I try to go with the flow—I figure with water work, sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down. I try to put away money when it’s coming easily and power through when it’s coming hard.
If you could give a new creator advice, what would it be?
It’s corny, but be yourself—I’m sure some people are very successful selling a persona that is not anything like who they actually are, but for me, I’ve tried to stay myself and not get involved in an image/acts that I am not personally interested in. This was, the job seems more sustainable in the long-term and less emotionally exhausting…
If you make customs – what’s the weirdest request and did you do it?
I feel like most of my custom requests are on the strange side—and I love that! But after you’ve been doing customs this long, nothing really seems so strange anymore…
How do you film? Any special lighting equipment/camera? Feel free to share some of your tips.
I don’t do anything special; I prefer to film with a webcam, and for lighting, I use cheap IKEA paper lantern lights (I like to place several around) or try to go with daylight. I don’t do too much regards production; I personally prefer a more unpolished feel…..(Which is the clip equivalent of the ‘no-makeup look’—even for ‘no-makeup/unpolished,’ quite a bit of set-up is required.) Still, I don’t think I put in nearly as much production effort as some others—and I believe that’s fine. Some of my favorite personal clips have been spontaneous ones where I said ‘fuck all the set up and props, let’s just turn on the cam and see what happens…’.
What do you like about using AP as a platform?
I feel like the site is easy to navigate and has an attractive layout. I enjoy some of the contests AP has had in the past, and like that you can sell your content in a bundle!
Has your brand evolved since you started? If so, how?
When I started out, I was more about a voyeuristic/exhibitionist ‘I’m doing stuff and you are watching’ approach—now, I do a lot more ‘complicated’ and interactive customs (including JOIs) and I’m happy with that! It’s been really fun getting to know some of my people long-term and seeing how their fantasies evolve.
You have a wonderful & supportive fan base! Do you have any tips for fellow model’s on how to grow theirs?
I don’t have anything revolutionary to say—have a good work ethic and deliver. I have a lot of repeat customers and loyal fans—I try to be good and fair to people and I think they respond to that well and reward me back. I overwhelmingly have had good experiences with people in this business and I’m grateful for that.
How did you come up with your stage name?
I think the letter ‘V’ is lucky, and ‘Visser’ sounds like an ambiguous name and vaguely like my real name… otherwise, there was no significance to it.
